Kinesiteraphy

Those who have completed a 4-year period of study acquire the educational and qualification degree "Bachelor" with the professional qualification "Physical Therapist". The training course includes fundamental, medical-biological, special and sports-methodological disciplines and practical training through weekly clinical practice, summer and pre-graduate clinical internship. Physiotherapists are analytical specialists in the field of health care who investigate and evaluate various problems related to the functional state of the person and determining his rehabilitation potential. Their competences include the development and implementation of kinesitherapy programs for diseases, ailments and injuries clinically diagnosed by a doctor. They can perform prophylactic, therapeutic and rehabilitation activities in state and private clinics, rehabilitation centres, sanatoriums, preventive schools, climate schools, hotels, resort villages, fitness centres, sports dispensaries, clubs for professional and amateur sports, educational and sports bases and centres . Occuptional Therapy

The offered bachelor's program is the only one in the country that prepares specialists with the professional qualification "Ergotherapist". The training course includes complex training in the field of medico-biological, psycho-social and special disciplines and stimulates the student's creative abilities and performances. The curriculum has been developed through a joint project with the European Network for Occupational Therapy in Higher Education (ENOTHE) in accordance with the latest global and European training standards. Opportunities for exchange of students and teachers with leading European higher schools are provided. The main contribution of occupational therapy is expressed in the formation of an accessible and supportive physical and socio-economic environment, providing opportunities for full-fledged work and personal realization of all citizens in accordance with their specific capabilities and needs. It aims to ensure maximum self-reliance and independence for persons with physical, mental and emotional disabilities by developing, restoring, maintaining or changing their daily self-care and work skills, as well as by adapting the home, school and work environment to compensate of permanently impaired functions.

Graduates of the specialty have wide opportunities for professional realization in health and social institutions, special and mainstream schools and kindergartens, day care and rehabilitation centres, community services, vocational training centres, providers of technical aids, municipal offices, consulting services, etc. Those who have acquired a Bachelor's degree can continue their studies in a master's program.

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY IN THE COMMUNITY (In 2013/2014, training in the educational-qualification degree "master" was launched)

Master programmes

  • Kinesitherapy - The master's program aims to prepare highly qualified specialists capable of competently performing specialized kinesitherapeutic activity associated with increased responsibility, professional management, scientific research, creative thinking and interdisciplinary knowledge. Only graduates of EQD "Bachelor" in Kinesitherapy can apply for the master's program. The training course includes 2 groups of disciplines: Fundamental - provide in-depth and extended theoretical training in fundamental disciplines: anatomo-physiological justification of kinesitherapy for various diseases, clinical laboratory, research methodology, medical statistics, health management. Special - expand specialized knowledge by studying modern research methods for different diseases, special methods for functional research in different clinical areas, specialized methods of kinesitherapy in different clinical areas and specialized treatment methods for different diseases. Specialists with the professional qualification "Master Kinesitherapist" can work in all medical and health care facilities, performing management functions that require high qualification and professional responsibility. They can participate in research teams, carry out consulting and training activities. Graduates of the master's program can continue their studies in the doctoral degree.

Occupational Therapy in the community - The master's program aims to prepare highly qualified specialists with a thorough understanding and knowledge of the impact of activities on human health and well-being and competence to apply scientifically proven and innovative methods for full social inclusion of disabled and disadvantaged peopleIn line with the European Qualifications Framework for Lifelong Learning, the Master's program contributes to deepening knowledge and critical understanding of community development strategies, developing skills for self-improvement and lifelong learning, as well as professional responsibility for the specifics of occupational therapy work with children and persons with psychosocial problems in the community.


 The curriculum is developed at two levels:

• for holders of EQD "Bachelor" in the specialty of Occupational Therapy - with a duration of 1 year (2 semesters) in full-time and part-time form;

• for holders of EQD "Bachelor" from other specialties in the field of higher education Health care and sports and from the professional fields of Pedagogy, Psychology and Social activities - with a duration of 2 years (4 semesters) in full-time and part-time form.

Specialists with the professional qualification of master occupational therapist have the opportunity for professional realization in all specialized institutions and services in the community, as well as experts in municipal and national social services and non-governmental organizations. They can hold management positions, coordinate projects, provide consulting services.

The master's degree gives the opportunity to continue the studies in the doctoral degree.
