Opportunities for recreation

The University of Ruse offers excellent opportunities for recreation of the foreign students. The organization of excursions for getting acquainted with the historical and cultural places of interests in the Republic of Bulgaria and its history has become a tradition at Ruse University. The International Students Directorate organized excursions to the Medieval town of Cherven, the Churches, cut in the rocks in the village of Ivanovo, the cave ”Orlova Chuka”, the Palace in Balchik, the village of Oreshak, Troyan Monastery, the village of Voneshta Voda, the Old Bulgarian capital Veliko Tarnovo, Gabrovo, the geographical centre of the Republic of Bulgaria - the picturesque site Uzana, situated in the Gabrovo Balkan.

The Foreign Students’ Festival that was organized in the past as a form of dealing with foreign students came to life again – foreign students were given the chance to introduce their native culture and traditions to the Bulgarian students and teachers. The International Students Directorate does their best to help the realization of the Amateur Art Festival every spring involving students from Russia, Ukraine, Albania, Moldova, Macedonia and Turkey. The celebrations run in an exciting atmosphere, tempestuously applauded by the audience that was moved by the enthusiasm and performance of all participants.

The academic staff of Ruse University estimates highly the achievements of the foreign students in the curriculum and extra curriculum activities. On the occasion of 8-th December, the Day of the Bulgarian Students, the International Students Directorate organizes meetings of the Governing Body with foreign students, who have taken an active part in different undertakings, organized by the Directorate. On the occasion of the 24-th May – The Day of the Slavonic script and of the Bulgarian education and culture, the Rector awards all foreign students who have very good and excellent results from studies.
